If we look at the period from 1975 to 2010 and the Czech or Slovak context, I can remember several legendary candidates who were present at every party or family lunch at that time.

Did your mother-in-law do any of the things below, or was it a completely different secret?

1. The legendary shredded pie (or “the lid”)

Often the dough (flour, fat, sugar), the cottage cheese and the cocoa were enough to color certain parts. Simple, effective and it disappeared from the griddle in the blink of an eye. Recipes without baking

2. Cheese sticks/savory crackers

The festivities were numerous and a savory snack was the perfect accompaniment to wine or beer. Often, just three ingredients, in a 1:1:1 ratio, were more than enough:
